Enjoy these three stories from our Martin & Sylvia series!  The stories follow the events that unfold over the few days before Halloween as the creative brother and sister prepare for their annual Fairy Ball!

NOTE: Two of the three stories in this Audio Book were adapted from stories in the "Martin & Sylvia" Subscription for the Fall of 2011.  If you were a subscriber last fall, then you will have heard the previous versions of these stories.  The middle story of this Audio Book, however, is brand new.

Part One:  The Thinning of the Veils

While Martin and Sylvia wait for the invitations to arrive for their annual Halloween Fairy Fall, Sylvia spies something curious sticking out of the toy shelf in their bedroom. She examines it, and finds that it is an orange piece of paper with a drawing — and on the drawing is a red “X.” Martin declares that it must be a treasure map! And thus brother and sister are launched on a cross-town treasure hunt. Where will it lead them?

Part Two: Jack-O-Lanterns

To gain entrance to the annual Halloween Fairy Ball, the children must bring certain gifts.  From the invitation, they learn that one of these fairy gifts is a Jack-O-Lantern.  They run to harvest their pumpkins, only to discover the ones they grew themselves are both very small.  Momma then tells them that the first Jack-O-Lanterns were actually carved out of turnips!  This amazes both Martin and Sylvia, and they decide to try it.  It works!  And not only that, they glow a beautiful golden white like the moon.

Part Three: The Fairy Ball

It is the day before the Fairy Ball, and Martin is worried. While his sister Sylvia has already found all of her fairy gifts, Martin laments that he’ll never find the feather, crystal and candle that he needs to gain entrance to the Ball. Everything changes, however, when Momma teaches Martin a magical finding trick. And the Halloween magic doesn’t end there!

Martin & Sylvia's Christmas-time Audio Book $6.00

Enjoy these three stories from our Martin & Sylvia series!  The stories follow the events that unfold over the weeks before Christmas as the creative brother and sister enjoy several holiday tradions!

NOTE: The three stories in this Audio Book were adapted from stories in the "Martin & Sylvia" Subscription for the Fall of 2011.  If you were a subscriber last fall, then you will have heard the previous versions of these stories.

Part One:  The Christmas Garden

Every year Martin and Sylvia’s family builds a Chistmas-time Spiral Garden to celebrate the holiday season. This year, however, Martin and Sylvia want to do it themselves, without any help. Daddy is hesitant — building the spiral shaped stone path can be complicated and exhausting. But brother and sister are undaunted. Martin, in charge of the stones, finds out what it is to meet a challenge with determination and creativity.

Part Two: Getting Their Tree

Last year, Martin and Sylvia got their Christmas tree from in town. The year before that they hiked into the woods. This year, Daddy has the idea of taking a horse-drawn wagon into the woods of a Christmas tree farm, where they will find not only a field of Christmas trees, but also a warm cabin and hot chocolate. The family enthusiastically agrees to go — and the experience proves to be even more magical than expected.

Part Three: Silent Night

Martin and Sylvia’s family loves to sing holiday songs; they each have their very favorite. Sylvia's is "Silent Night". She loves it so much that she wants to offer a special concert of “Silent Night” at the annual caroling party. She enlists Martin and her friends to help. But when she ends up by herself in the playhouse for the "rehearsal", Sylvia experiences some special holiday magic that brings a whole new meaning to her favorite song.

One.  "Secret Love Code"

Martin and Sylvia’s family has a Valentine’s tradition in which they create little satchels of valentine gifts. They hang the satchels on friends' front doors — each with the same small note: “You are Loved!”.  And all of it is done in secret. Oh, but it can be hard to keep quiet about all the fun! Martin and Sylvia find clever ways to keep their delicious secrets to themselves. (this story includes content from an 'At Home' story previously a part of the 2012 subscription series)

Two. "Four Kinds of Valentines"

In preparation for their town's annual Valentines Family Dance, Martin and Sylvia learn that there is not one kind of Valentine, but FOUR.  In addition to the beautiful paper cards - there are valentines made of "loving words", "tasty treats" and "special times".  As they craft their valentines for their parents and each other, brother and sister consider all the ways to share love.

Three. "Queen of the Dance"

Martin and Sylvia have been preparing for the Valentines Family Dance all week — making valentines, decorating the Hall and learning dances. Sylvia is determined to find the bean in the Cupid Cake and become the Valentine Family Dance Queen. Her plans change, however, when she meets a shy new girl who wants to be the Queen just as much as she does!  (this story includes content from an 'At Home' story previously a part of the 2012 subscription series)

These three sample stories are like those you'll find in a subscription to Martin & Sylvia!

May Day

It's May Day! In Martin & Sylvia's town, the community celebrates with a May Day Fair, complete with music and a Maypole. The family can't wait to don their woven flower crowns and visit all the booths at the fair. But Martin can think of nothing but the Maypole — and how he wants to join the “fast dance” this year. It takes courage and a little story magic for Martin to take a ribbon and join the big kids in the twisting, turning dance.

Mr. Brown's Bees

Mr. Brown's orchard is a'bloom and ready for the busy work of his bees. He invites Martin and Sylvia to help prepare the hives, and Sylvia enthusiastically joins in. Martin, however, is apprehensive. He's been stung before. But when Daddy gives a lesson on bees, Martin learns how much he has in common with the helpful workers.

The Goose Pond

Martin and Sylvia wake one morning to hear a clear sign that autumn has arrived: the honking of geese! Sylvia wonders if any geese have visited the little pond she created in their back yard brook, but Martin is sure the geese have passed by. When they check, they find that the swollen brook has washed away the little pond as well as a series of precious fairy houses. They both set to work but cannot agree on how to proceed. Only a true collaboration solves the question of how to make a proper goose pond!
