Storybox Playlist: Stories About Loving Yourself
I bet at some point in your life you’ve heard some version of this piece of wisdom: “You have to love yourself before you can love someone else.” The theme this week is “self-love.” What does that mean and what does it look like? Self-love means knowing your strengths and weaknesses and accepting them. Self-love means taking time to know what your boundaries are and holding to them. Self-love means being gentle to yourself when you make mistakes — and then learning how to fix them. Self-love means taking time for you and only you. For many parents, this might feel selfish but it’s very important. If you love to run, you might wake up early before your partner goes to work and run on your own while they watch the kids. Or perhaps you might splurge on a high-quality tea that you don’t share with anyone. Or maybe you indulge in a nice long bath at midnight with the door locked so that no one comes in (and hopefully everyone is sleeping).
The stories we’ve gathered here focus on Loving Yourself and taking time nourish your needs.
